Liquid Motion® Accreditation Framework

The professional framework for Liquid Motion® Accreditation

THE LIQUID MOTION® ACCREDITATION FRAMEWORK

Liquid Motion® Accreditation operates across four distinct levels — from professional practitioner recognition through to institutional programme delivery.

Each level carries specific standards, requirements, and responsibilities.

Progression is merit-based, selective, and maintained through continuing professional development.

CERTIFICATION & ACCREDITATION

Certification recognises successful completion of professional training — skills acquired, methodology learned, competency demonstrated. Certification is the foundation.

Accreditation is professional recognition of a different order. It is granted selectively, maintained through continued alignment with Liquid Motion® standards, and is not automatically conferred through course completion.

Completion of certification does not automatically confer professional accreditation.

THE FOUR LEVELS

LEVEL 1

LIQUID MOTION CERTIFIED PRACTITIONER

Recognition of demonstrated professional competency under real-world underwater conditions.

Available across photography, videography, camera operation, cinematography and filmmaking tracks.

This is the entry point into the Liquid Motion® professional framework.

LEVEL 2

LIQUID MOTION® ACCREDITED CINEMATOGRAPHER

Recognised professional standing in underwater cinematography and visual storytelling.

  • Consistent professional-level output under real-world conditions
  • Artistic control, creative authorship, and technical mastery
  • Environmental responsibility and non-destructive practice
  • Alignment with Liquid Motion® professional and ethical standards

Granted selectively following professional review.

LEVEL 3

LIQUID MOTION® ACCREDITED INSTRUCTOR

Qualification to teach underwater cinematography and imaging within the Liquid Motion® professional standard.

Requirements include:

Completion of professional pathway

Portfolio review and assessment

Mentorship and supervised delivery

Final professional assessment

Annual CPD renewal

Granted selectively in order to maintain the integrity of the standard.

LEVEL 4

LIQUID MOTION® ACCREDITED TRAINING CENTRE

Institutional recognition for organisations delivering underwater imaging education within the Liquid Motion® accredited framework.

Applicable to:

Dive operations and resorts

Film schools and creative institutions

Conservation and research organisations

Tourism and hospitality operators

Scope and accreditation level are established individually based on institutional alignment and professional standards.

Enquiries from institutions are welcomed and treated confidentially.

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Accreditation at Levels 2, 3, and 4 is maintained through continued professional alignment — not course completion alone.

This includes:

  • Ongoing real-world practice
  • Environmental responsibility
  • Engagement with evolving standards
  • Contribution to the professional community

STANDARDS & ETHICS

All Liquid Motion® Accreditation is grounded in:

  • Technical and creative mastery under real-world conditions
  • Environmental responsibility and reef-safe practice
  • Professional integrity and ethical conduct
  • Commitment to the advancement of underwater imaging as a craft

These are not aspirational values. They are operational requirements.
