Johnathan McCaughrin is a Canadian technical diver and emerging underwater cinematographer whose journey began not with ambition, but with remembrance — diving first to honour his late aunt, and discovering in the process a deeper calling. At just 26, he has already moved beyond recreational exploration into disciplined technical and mixed-gas diving, recently completing Helitrox training in Chuuk Lagoon where complex wreck penetration, rebreather management, and camera systems began to feel instinctive rather than overwhelming. Drawn to the quiet stories of shipwrecks — from the cold depths of the Great Lakes to the historic hulls of the Pacific — Johnathan is steadily merging precision diving with intentional visual storytelling. Through his continued mentorship and professional training with Liquid Motion Academy, he is refining the cinematographic, editing, and narrative discipline required to translate technical mastery into meaningful documentary work.
