The Making of an Image:

Clarifying and demystifying the basics such as exposure, ISO, gain, RGB, colour balance and composition. Encompassing an approach to underwater optics. Providing a thorough understanding of the art of underwater lighting and a clear path to achieving truly cinematic footage.

The Professional Underwater Camera Operator Course - Module 2

Camera work:

This module covers all aspects of camera movement underwater, camera angles and the key ‘rules of the road’, all leading to making more cinematic shots and paving to way to having a rich edit.

The Professional Underwater Camera Operator Course - Module 3

Macro work:

Macro is easy and extremely difficult, all at the same time. This chapter concentrates on handheld, stable macro, observing non-destructive filming techniques and keeping the focus on the subject while using creative camera moves.

The Professional Underwater Camera Operator Course - Module 4

Wide Angle:

This Specialty Module covers the art of shooting wide angle and creative powerful sequences using advanced camera moves. Whether shooting shallow or deep, in a studio or on the reef, models or marine life, learn to anticipate movement and behaviour, capture the right angle at the right moment and use the correct camera moves and lighting to create richly dynamic, emotive wide angle shots.

Lighting:

This is an in-depth (pun intended) look into how to use underwater lighting, including colour balance considerations, light modifiers and filters and the art of underwater lighting to portray emotion, create mood and achieve outstanding cinematic footage.

Bernat Garrigos

Director of Aniol SL since 2005, Bernat Garrigo has been making underwater video for many years, and took many courses, yet nevert reached the professional level he sought. In 2017, he founded the Project Alive Foundation and embarked on an ambitious project in collaboration with the Scientists at the World register of marine species and Lynx Foundation to create a world database of photographs and videos and the first world catalogue of all underwater taxonomic groups. This free internet database made of still photographs and video of vertebrate, invertebrate and aquatic plants aims to improve our knowledge of marine species and help the conservation of some of the most endangered and unknown communities on the planet.
