LIQUID MOTION® ACCREDITATION

The Global Authority for Underwater Cinematography & Filmmaking Education

Established over 30 years

Setting the Global Standard

Liquid Motion® is the world’s only accrediting body dedicated exclusively to underwater cinematography and filmmaking at the highest professional level.

For more than 30 years, Liquid Motion has set the benchmark for what is possible beneath the surface — not only in technical mastery, but in creativity, safety, ethics, and visual authorship.

Accreditation exists to protect the craft, elevate global standards, and ensure that those who teach underwater filmmaking do so with depth, responsibility, and integrity.

This is not a certificate.
It is custodianship.

Why Accreditation Exists

The underwater imaging world has expanded rapidly — but professional standards have not kept pace.

Technical skill alone is not enough.
Creativity without foundation is limited.
Art without safety, awareness, and environmental responsibility is dangerous.

Liquid Motion’s real-world lineage across cinema, photography, and professional diving places it in a unique position to define what true professional underwater filmmaking education should be.

Accreditation is about stewardship of a craft.

What Liquid Motion Accredits

Liquid Motion® Accreditation recognises professional underwater visual storytelling, including:

Underwater cinematography
Underwater filmmaking
Professional-level image-making that integrates movement, narrative, safety, ethics, and environmental responsibility

Accreditation is conferred on those who demonstrate professional competence, sound judgment, creative maturity, and alignment with Liquid Motion standards.

Professional Pathways, Not Shortcuts

Liquid Motion training already operates at a professional level from the outset.

Courses such as the Professional Underwater Camera Operator, Underwater Videographer, and Underwater Filmmaker programmes are fully customised, delivered one-to-one or in carefully structured small groups, and adapted to each individual — from beginner to seasoned professional — while maintaining uncompromised standards.

Accreditation builds on this foundation by recognising those who have progressed beyond personal proficiency and are prepared to teach within clearly defined professional frameworks.

Accreditation reflects demonstrated merit, experience, and responsibility.

Accreditation Scope

Liquid Motion® Accreditation encompasses a structured framework for:

Accrediting underwater cinematography and filmmaking instructors
Accrediting professional training pathways
Establishing global benchmarks for safety, ethics, and creative standards
Developing specialised professional accreditations within the Liquid Motion system

Accreditation may apply to individuals, programmes, and selected training facilities.

Applied Professional Accreditations

Within the Liquid Motion accreditation framework, specialised professional accreditations exist where clear professional standards are required.

One such accreditation is the Liquid Motion® Non-Destructive Underwater Imaging Accreditation.

This accreditation formalises the environmental awareness, buoyancy control, spatial responsibility, and reef-safe practice that have always been integral to Liquid Motion training.

It may be delivered as a standalone programme or integrated into professional pathways, and is designed for adoption by institutions, dive operations, and tourism authorities seeking a clear, enforceable standard for responsible underwater imaging.

A dedicated page provides further details for institutional and governmental use.

A Global Standard of Excellence

Liquid Motion® Accreditation is maintained within a clearly defined professional framework.

The Academy’s flagship courses, curriculum, methods, and mentor-led delivery remain distinctive and are delivered directly through Liquid Motion.

Accredited instructors operate within established scopes, contributing to a professional community that reinforces continuity, high standards, and trust worldwide.

Founded and Led by Liquid Motion

Liquid Motion® was founded and is led by Guy and Anita Chaumette, internationally acclaimed underwater filmmakers whose work spans award-winning cinema, broadcast television, photography, and conservation.

At the Academy, Guy Chaumette leads the teaching and mentorship, delivering Liquid Motion’s methodology directly and ensuring uncompromised standards.

Together, their decades of real-world experience form the living foundation behind every accreditation granted.

Train-the-Trainer Programme

Liquid Motion’s Accreditation and Train-the-Trainer Programme is designed for a small number of elite professionals who wish to operate at the highest level of underwater filmmaking education.

This pathway offers qualified instructors the opportunity to:

Teach within a globally recognised accreditation framework
Build long-term professional authority and positioning
Achieve meaningful ROI, focusing on return on expertise, not volume
Work internationally while remaining selective and independent
Contribute to the future standards of the craft

Selective by design.
